iNaturalist's mission is to connect people to nature and advance biodiversity science and conservation. We operate as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in California but with a remote team located around the world.

Our current team of 13 full-time staff and contractors are passionate about nature, technology, and solving challenges to keep iNaturalist on track as it continues to grow. We work remotely and use tools like Slack, Github and video calls in US Pacific and/or Eastern time zones to coordinate our work. We try to all meet up in person and in nature at least once a year.
