I am the Chair of the IUCN/SSC Chameleon Specialist Group (CSG) and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology at the University of South Dakota. My fascination with the family Chamaeleonidae has resulted in much of my research utilizing these animals as models for the principles I study and in expanding my work to broader questions about the biology of these animals. My interest in chameleons started off as a hobby in 1997 and over the years I have worked with more than 70 species to varying degrees in captivity and have studied them in many of their native and introduced habitats.
